Route Overview

The holiday of a lifetime! We ride through the wonderful Norwegian Landscapes – dramatic passes, high mountain plateaux, incredible views around every corner, Glaciers, Tunnels, waterfalls. Every day brings view after view as the miles roll by. You can enjoy the experience of riding into the Arctic Circle and the elation of having ridden there yourself.

There will be two rest days built into the trip – in Fauske in the Arctic Circle and then in Bergen on the way back south. This will give time to recharge – see some local sights and enjoy more of a leg stretch. Most days will have around 200 miles to cover – which gives plenty of time for sightseeing and photo stops to drink in the view and ensure your memory (and memory card!) is full.

19 Nights ACCOMMODATION

19 nights accommodation – including two overnight ferries to book end the tour. Most accommodation is B&B, with two nights half board due to the remote location of the hotels. Full details on request.

Our tour guides lead from the rear, there to help with any problems, but allowing you to ride at your own pace. You’re sure to form friendships and riding buddies within the group.

We provide you with all you need for your days riding – GPX Files, Maps, Recommended coffee stops, places of interest

Flexibility is the key to this ride as our routes may have to deviate due to local weather conditions as we are often quite high up, but don’t worry, we’ll know all this before we leave the comfort of our hotel.

ITinerary

Day 1

Harwich – hook of Holland
Meet for the overnight ferry from Harwich to the Hook of Holland. Cabins will most likely be shared but we may be able to arrange        single cabins – if this is your preference please let us know (there may be a surcharge)

Day 2

Hook of Holland – Germany
A necessary use of motorways to get us heading North – Hook Of Holland to our first stop in Uetersen, Germany. Trust us – at the end of the tour this won’t be the day you spend most of your time talking about, but a sense of excitement will be growing as tomorrow night you will be sleeping in Norway.

Day 3

Germany – Hirtshals
We will need an early start to get to Hirtshals for early afternoon where we catch the ferry to Norway. Again, not the most exciting of rides, but we will ride for an hour or so in Norway to our hotel when we get there.

Day 4

LEt Norway begin!
And so it begins – out first full day in Norway with lakes, Fjords, Bridges and tunnels – you won’t believe what you see.

Day 5

Longest road tunnel & Stegastein
200 miles of joy! The chance to ride through the longest road tunnel in the world – or head up over the mountain it cuts through if that’s your preference. A stop at the Stegastein view point if you fancy it – which you will!

Day 6

GeringerFjord & Trollstigen
The chance of the old clay road to start the day (or a more direct tarmac road if you prefer) on the way to GeringerFjord and the Trollstigen. A day of big hitters and breathtaking riding.

Day 7

Hell and beyond
A lovely ride North, skirting Trondheim and stopping at Hell for obligatory photo stop before the main north road to Namskoggan. 

Day 8

Reach the Arctic
Today we reach the Arctic Circle – bucket list moment – before heading further North to Fauske and our first rest day

Day 9

Rest Day
Rest Day – Spend the day in Fauske or head further North – we have the routes if you can’t get enough!

Day 10

Things get coastal
Whilst we turn a corner and head South – for many this is where the real beauty begins. We start the journey south along the coast. Hopefully you don’t get breathtaking scenery fatigue because things are about to get special. 

Day 11

Ferries, Fjords & Bridges
More coast, Ferries, Fjords, bridges – just goes on and on!

Day 12

Trondheim
Another day heading South, around the West of Trondheim and further inland. Expect rivers, farms, countryside, trees – the Norwegian countryside in its ever changing glory!

Day 13

Atlantic Road
Time for another world heritage site today – the Atlantic Road. You will have seen it in all the pictures – today you ride it! 

Day 14

Bergen
A final glorious day South to Bergen – more of the beautiful coastal landscape, a final couple of ferries and the promise of a rest day to come.

Day 15

Rest Day
A rest day in Bergen. We are right in the centre of town – so enjoy the sights and sounds – see the fish market, gaze at the beautiful harbourside, take the train to the top of the hill for the amazing view or just have a wander.

Day 16

Telemark Region
Today we turn East across the Telemark region. Up into the high Plateau and through this bewitching landscape to the town of Kongsberg. A long but truly magnificent day in the saddle.

Day 17

Last day in Norway
The final Norwegian riding day – and a splendid one at that. We would highly recommend a stop at the Heddal Stave Church and we put it on the route, but this is entirely up to you. Otherwise a final day through forests, by lakes and a final stop in Kristainsand.

Day 18

Denmark
Up at the crack of dawn today – an early ferry back to Denmark buys us time to avoid motorways for most of the day and enjoy the riding that Denmark has to offer. No, it’s not Norway, but another opportunity to experience a different culture and country is never going to be turned down by us!

Day 19

Back to the Hook of Holland
And so we make our way back to Hook of Holland and the ferry home The final day can be what you want – we have all day to get to the ferry. Some prefer a leisurely start to the day, reflecting on the wonder of the tour. Others want to seize every opportunity for a ride and want to avoid the motorways – we will make sure there are options for both

Day 20

Return to the UK
We land back in blighty and head home. With a head full of memories and a longing to return!

For the ferry crossings, unless you’re a couple we will use shared cabins. Single cabins can be booked, which may incur a slight increase in the costs noted, and will depend on availability. We will be as flexible as possible when we book.
