10 Weeks to Go!!

To help plan for our upcoming tour, we have put together a weekly countdown of activities from us at Tip Top Tours, and what we recommend you should consider also.

Week 10

  • Final payment will have been received and confirmation from Tip Top Tours will be sent. 

Week 9

  • Your bike – check its service needs, MoT, tax status and overall road worthiness including tyres. Book service if necessary.  
  • Passport check – under 10 years old with more than 6 months left; we typically visit countries in the Schengen area and they have passport rules Travel documents for non-EU nationals – Your Europe 

Week 8

  • Travel insurance – make sure you have personal travel insurance and that it covers you for the countries we are riding through for the dates we are travelling. 
  • GHIC Card – available free from NHS GHIC Card 
  • Breakdown insurance – make sure your current insurance covers you for breakdown whilst abroad 
  • Make sure your bike insurance covers you for riding abroad too! 
  • Consider a Crit’air sticker for France – Homepage | Official website of the Crit’Air sticker 
  • Consider the purchase of a digital vignette for Austria just in case we have to use a motorway – Vignette  

Week 7

  • Most countries require us to carry certain items with us: 
  • Original V5 document 
  • Insurance 
  • Driving licence 
  • Spare bulbs (not always possible for LED headlights) 
  • Hi viz jacket 
  • Warning triangle 
  • First aid kit 
  • A UK sticker on the bike  

  • We suggest you take photos of your documents and send to Tip Top Tours for the duration of your tour.  After the tour we will destroy these images.  

Week 6

Week 5

  • If ordered, passports should have been received! – If not follow up!

Week 4

  • Tip Top Tours will create a WhatsApp group for the tour so we can introduce ourselves and fellow riders and answer any questions you may have.

Week 3

  • Tip Top Tours will send out a suggested ‘packing’ list of stuff to take and wear for the day and evenings 

Week 2

  • GPX files will be released – we leave it until as last minute as possible as routes may change depending on road conditions 
  • Upload GPX files to your sat-nav device 
  • Bike fully serviced and tour ready – tyres, Tax, Mot, insurance 
  • Personal and bike travel insurance in place. 
  • Wash clothes, get personal items into a travel bag eg shaving foam and toothpaste! 

Week 1

  • Tip Top Tours will send out a digital tour pack 
  • You will receive your ferry/Eurotunnel booking reference 
  • Get your bags packed 

Day before you travel

  • Full tank of fuel 
  • Load up bike with your gear
